Larry & JoAnn Shade

Mark your calendar for September 10th, 2023 at 5:00 p.m., because we are delighted to have Larry & JoAnn Shade lead a special evening of singing that we are calling “Summer Songfest.” The congregation has been recording their favorite hymns that they would enjoy singing . Larry leads and adds many interesting details about the music while JoAnn wows us with her piano skills. We have done one songfest before and it really was fun and educational. Everyone is invited to attend. The admission is free and we will follow the singing with a potluck dinner, served at the Fellowship Hall.

This couple has been ministering and serving in a variety of settings for more than forty-five years. They have served Salvation Army congregations and social service programs in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. Also, they worked in helping develop the Ashland, Ohio Kroc Center. Now in retirement, Larry has worked at a funeral home and JoAnn assists doctoral students at the Ashland Theological Seminary. She has helped new authors publish their own books and has written extensively about issues facing people of faith in today’s culture. Besides being a good singer, Larry plays the bass and trombone. JoAnn can play the alto and is an accomplished pianist. Together they can make some beautiful music!

Larry & JoAnn reside in Canton, Ohio. They are the parents of adult sons, Greg, Drew, and Dan. They have two daughter-in-laws, Lauren and Becky. They are blessed with five grandchildren- Madelyn, Elizabeth, Henry, Emma, and Jack. Larry is also brother to our member Jessie Butler.

Psalm 100:2 says “Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!” This is exactly what Larry and JoAnn faithfully practice. Larry continues to lead singing hymns at their home Corps on Sundays as well as conducting Sunday services as needed in varying Corps in NE Ohio.

Join us for this fun songfest and enjoy the service of Larry & JoAnn.
